Happy Valentine's Day from 1Z

We had lots of fun celebrating Valentine's Day here at LAMS.  We did activity pages, made hearts with our February bible verse, played Minute To Win It Valentine games, read about the love of Jesus dying on the cross, read Valentine poems while searching for/highlighting contractions, nouns, and long vowel words, made heart apple snacks, and passed out Valentine cards!  Such a fun filled day at school!!  Enjoy the pictures :)

Highlighting and searching for contractions, nouns, and long vowels in Valentine's Day poems

Minute To Win It Heart Lava Race

The boys and girls had to use their two (purple and pink) hearts to move point of the room to the other without touching their feet in the LAVA (aka: the floor)

Minute To Win It M&M Moving Race

Students had one minute to try to use straws to suction and move 10 M&M's from one cup to the other!

Minute To Win It Broken Heart Race (With Tissue Paper Hearts & Clothespins)

Students had one minute to use clothespins to pass as many tissue paper hearts around the room without ripping them!

Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe Bingo

Students went around and wrote their name on every student's tic-tac-toe Bingo card.  Then student names were called as the class covered their card until they got Bingo :)

Heart Apple Snacks

The students got half of an apple in the shape of a heart that they spread peanut butter on and decorated with raisins.  It was a nice change from all of the sugar that can come on Valentine's Day ;)

February Bible Verse Creation

The students wrote their first February bible verse and remembered the real reason that we love others: because Jesus first loved us!

100th Day of School Celebration in 1st Grade!!

Today was a day full of fun for Mrs. Zook's first grade class!  We did so many learning activities that focus the children on the number 100!  From singing 100 Day songs, to making groups of ten on posters, to writing about what it's like to be 100 years old, to making 100 Day cereal necklaces, to writing 100 words around the classroom, to estimating 100 objects, to awesome centers at the end of the day...it was a BLAST!  And the students loved it too ;)

Here is a glimpse into our super fun 100 Day Celebration!! Enjoy!!
