Changes, changes, changes!!

Wow!  What an end of the year and summer it has been!

Teaching first grade at Lititz Area Mennonite School for the 2014-2015 school year was an AMAZING experience for me.  I was so blessed to have taught at such an awesome school and I could not have asked for such a great first teaching experience.

However, God has really changed lots of things in the lives of both my husband and myself with the arrival of our son Joshua who came this July.  He has been such an incredible blessing that has totally changed our lives for the good!  Because of our sweet boy, I have decided to stay at home with Joshua and be a full time momma :)

But God opened up a new door for me as the school that I had student taught at, Manheim Christian Day School, just so happened to be hiring for a part time, one day a week, Fun Friday PreK Enrichment teacher!  I so badly wanted to at least keep my foot in the door with education and God worked things out so that I could do it!  I applied and was hired for the position and am so excited to start the year with 10 sweet and amazing PreK kiddos!

This is going to be an excellent year of fun and learning and I am so thankful for all of the ways that God has been working to keep this teacher and momma blessed and filled by His goodness all of the time :)  Here's to a great year ahead of us!  Can't wait to see all of the good things that God is going to do this year!

Dr. Seuss Day!

We had so much fun today celebrating Dr. Seuss Day!  The students were able to eat a Dr. Seuss lunch with a special visit from the Cat in the Hat :)

Mrs. Zook's class also ended Dr. Seuss month by reading the excellent story of Bartholemew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss.  Then they were able to feel what oobleck was like and write about it in their Dr. Seuss folders.

Tons of fun going on today to celebrate :)  Enjoy the pictures and make sure to ask about some fun stories today from your first graders!

Happy Valentine's Day from 1Z

We had lots of fun celebrating Valentine's Day here at LAMS.  We did activity pages, made hearts with our February bible verse, played Minute To Win It Valentine games, read about the love of Jesus dying on the cross, read Valentine poems while searching for/highlighting contractions, nouns, and long vowel words, made heart apple snacks, and passed out Valentine cards!  Such a fun filled day at school!!  Enjoy the pictures :)

Highlighting and searching for contractions, nouns, and long vowels in Valentine's Day poems

Minute To Win It Heart Lava Race

The boys and girls had to use their two (purple and pink) hearts to move point of the room to the other without touching their feet in the LAVA (aka: the floor)

Minute To Win It M&M Moving Race

Students had one minute to try to use straws to suction and move 10 M&M's from one cup to the other!

Minute To Win It Broken Heart Race (With Tissue Paper Hearts & Clothespins)

Students had one minute to use clothespins to pass as many tissue paper hearts around the room without ripping them!

Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe Bingo

Students went around and wrote their name on every student's tic-tac-toe Bingo card.  Then student names were called as the class covered their card until they got Bingo :)

Heart Apple Snacks

The students got half of an apple in the shape of a heart that they spread peanut butter on and decorated with raisins.  It was a nice change from all of the sugar that can come on Valentine's Day ;)

February Bible Verse Creation

The students wrote their first February bible verse and remembered the real reason that we love others: because Jesus first loved us!
